Hamilton Junior High is hosting a Matariki Festival on the 29th of June, from 4pm until 8pm. Students have organised multiple events to help the school and wider community celebrate Matariki and especially the idea of New Beginnings.
This includes:
- A Hangi (purchase your tickets for $10 at the school office before the 25th June) - Live music - Library Opening - Food and Drink Stalls - Art Expo

What is Matariki?

Matariki is the Maori new year where we celebrate new beginnings. It is also a time for celebration. People celebrate Matariki by remembering those who have passed away and gathering together with those who are still with us. Matariki is an important time of the year for Maori as it signifies their harvesting time.
