Students rise to meet stage challenge

Hamilton schools set the Founders stage on fire for a spectacular couple of nights of youth creativity and expression last week.

Students from Fairfield College, Fraser High, Hamilton Boys, Hamilton Christian School, Melville High, Hamilton Junior High School and Waikato Diocesan School for Girls produced some first-class performances.

With themes chosen by the students ranging from peer pressure, using imagination to facing fears and alienation, showed not only the depth of thought but also the amazing creativity of the city's youth.

A total of 17 schools from throughout the region participated in the 20th Stage Challenge, the biggest school-based dance and drama extravaganza.

Morrinsville College won the Thursday night performance and Te Awamutu College won the following evening.
