HAMILTON JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
Hamilton Junior High School shall provide appropriate careers information and guidance for all students, with a particular emphasis on specific career guidance for those students who, nearing the end of their schooling, are at risk of becoming unemployed. The specific careers information grant provided annually from the Ministry of Education, will be utilised for Career development across the school.
a) To ensure all students have access to up to date careers information.
b) To ensure all students are informed of the Career Expo and available career visits.
a) Year 9
- Students will engage in a career specific unit to assist in developing a career path. They will be encouraged to explore possibilities with a focus on developing career goals.
b) Year 10
Students will engage in a career specific unit to assist in developing a career path. They will be encouraged to explore possibilities with a focus on developing career goals.
Students will be introduced to Careers resources available in paper form, on
The internet and CD Rom.
- In the second half of the year students will engage actively in subject choice for Year 11, with associated careers advice to help them clarify goals for the future. The guided choice for students means that most continue with a basic course which retains maximum flexibility at this stage.
- In term 2 all students will be encouraged to attend the Careers Expo. Planner sheets will be made available.
